3 Things to Stop Doing Today for a Calm, Christ‑Centered Christmas
Nov 21, 2025
The holiday season evokes so much: delight, nostalgia, hope… and for many Christian women, stress, guilt, and overwhelm.
What if you could stop the race, not by slowing down, but by refocusing? Not by sacrificing traditions, but by choosing the right ones?
Today, I want to invite you to stop three things so you can start celebrating in a way that honors Jesus, honors your family, and honors you.
Stop #1: Saying Yes to Everything
We’re taught to serve, to bless, to give, to participate.
But when “yes” becomes automatic, your Sabbath, your margin, your worship get squeezed out.
Make space.
Set boundaries.
Decide with your spouse (or yourself) what truly matters this season.
Let your “yes” reflect your priorities, not everyone else’s.

Stop #2: Chasing the Perfect Tradition
Pinterest, social media, church events... they all paint a nearly impossible standard of what Christmas should look like.
Perfectionism trips us up.
But Jesus came into chaos. Into a manger. Into ordinary.
Your traditions don’t have to be perfect. They just have to point to Him.
Choose traditions that bring joy, not guilt.
Choose meaning over mania.
That’s why the All Is Calm Christmas Collection includes discussion guides for you and your spouse to define your own “non‑negotiables.”
Stop #3: Doing It All Yourself
You weren’t built for solitude. You were built for Sabbath. For community. For rest.
The gospel invites you to lean, not lug.
Ask for help. Delegate. Let the Word speak to your planning and preparation.
Lead from rest.
Finish from rest.
Because you cannot effectively lead others until you lead yourself.

Putting It All Together with Intention
Imagine being done with your shopping by early December. (or Thanksgiving!)
Imagine inviting your children into a meaningful tradition rather than a frantic to‑do list.
Imagine entering Christmas week with your heart anchored in worship, not worry.
This is possible because planning isn’t the enemy. Misplaced planning and perfectionism are.
The All Is Calm Christmas Collection gives you the tools to plan with peace, not panic.
Today is your permission slip to stop the race.
- To stop the “yes.”
- To stop the perfection.
- To stop doing it all alone.
Instead… plan with intention, worship with delight, and celebrate with heart.
