The Responsibility You Never Questioned

There are things I took on…

that I never really stopped to question.

They just became mine over time.

I stepped in…
because I saw what needed to be done.

I kept going…
because I knew how to do it well.

And somewhere along the way…

I stopped going back to the Lord about it.

Have you ever done that?

Taken something on…
and then just kept doing it,

without ever really asking Him if it was yours?

There’s a kind of responsibility that feels right.

It looks good.
It may even get results.

That’s what makes it hard to question.

I started to recognize this in my own life.

I wasn’t just helping anymore.

I was watching things closely…
making sure everything worked…
stepping in quickly when something started to slip.

Because deep down…

I felt responsible for how it all turned out.

Have you ever felt like that?

Like the outcome somehow rested on you?

When something hasn’t come from the Lord…

you can still carry it.

You can even sometimes carry it well.

But, over time, something else can begin to form.

You start to notice that things tend to go well when you’re involved.

If you've gotten caught up comparing your life, your list, or your results to someone else…

remember this:

God created you uniquely for His purpose.

You stay on top of it.
You make sure everything works.
You don’t let things fall apart.

And a quiet thought can begin to seep in:

“Not on my watch.”

Have you ever felt that?

A determination that if you’re involved… it’s going to turn out right?

This is where the Lord began to show me something deeper.

The outcome was never mine to own.

There were moments when something not working…

was actually part of what He was doing.

He was shaping someone’s character. Maybe mine.

His plan involved allowing something to fall apart…

so that I would realize I needed to come back to Him.

Have you ever stopped depending on Him, and when something didn’t work out, you realized you needed to go back to Him in humble reliance again?

The “failure” may have a reason.

And that reason may be to cause you to seek Him again.

Because to God, your character is more important than the outcome.

He is more interested in your character…

than your accomplishments.

But, what if I am continually stepping in to make sure there is no failure?

There were times in my life when I stepped in so quickly…

I never gave God room to work the way He intended.

And in doing that…

I wasn’t just carrying something extra.

I was getting in the way of God’s eternal work in people: others and myself.

There were times I even took credit

for something that was meant to bring Him glory.

God will share His glory with no one.

That realization may change how you see everything.

It should cause you to ask a different question.

Not “Can I do this?”

But:

“Lord… is this mine?”

“What is Your purpose in this?”

Have you ever slowed down long enough to ask that?

And then stayed there long enough to listen?

That’s where clarity begins.

Not in trying to sort everything perfectly in your head.

But resting in His presence.

đź’– Seeing what He has actually given you
đź’– Recognizing what you picked up along the way that wasn’t meant for you
đź’– Releasing what was never yours in the first place

And your mindset shifts.

Your decisions feel lighter.
Your direction becomes clearer.
Your days start to feel different.

You become aware of the King of the Universe ruling your life and begin looking to Him.

You’re still trying to live faithfully.

You still desire to be responsible.

But now you’re led.

Watch the full video above...

God never asked you to hold everything together.

That’s His job.

He invites you to walk with Him.

To sit at His feet and listen.
He will lead. And you are to follow.
Just trust Him with what you keep and what you release.

You will only know all He has done when you reach heaven.
