Time Blocking, Rest, and the God Who Authors It All (Ordering Your Days Without the Pressure)

Christian woman reviewing her planner with Bible open beside her, symbolizing faith-driven time management and resting in God’s timing.

Most women I talk to aren’t struggling because they don’t have a planner.

They’re struggling because their thoughts are constantly telling them:
“I’m behind.”
“I should be doing more.”
“I’m not managing my time well.”

And that’s where this really connects to guarding your thoughts.

Because if your thoughts are chaotic, your schedule will be too.

When Your Thoughts Are Rushed, Your Schedule Will Be Too.

You can have the perfect system…

…but if your mind is operating from pressure, guilt, or fear, your schedule will reflect that.

You’ll:
  πŸ’– Overfill your days
πŸ’– Rush from one thing to the next
πŸ’– Feel behind before you even begin

Time-blocking isn’t just about productivity.

It’s about creating peace on purpose.

In this week’s video, we explore how guarding your thoughts, embracing spiritual rest, and aligning your time with God’s guidance can transform the way you lead and live.

Let’s unlearn the pressure of hustle and rediscover the beauty of Kingdom stewardship.

 Proverbs 16:9 reminds us:

“A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps.”

Why Time Blocking Actually Works (In Real Life)

Let’s make this simple.

Time-blocking works because it gives your brain clarity.

Instead of asking:
“What should I do next?”

You already decided.

That removes:
  πŸ’– Decision fatigue
  πŸ’– Overthinking
  πŸ’– Wasted time

But here’s where most people get it wrong…

They treat time-blocking like a rigid system instead of a flexible tool.

How I Actually Use Time Blocking (This Is the Part Most People Skip)

When I plan my week, I don’t just fill every hour.

I create 2-hour blocks for the most important things.

For example:

  πŸ’– Home responsibilities

  πŸ’– Recording videos

  πŸ’– Writing emails

  πŸ’– Planning

But here’s one of the biggest keys:

I don’t lock those blocks into one specific day forever.

If something doesn’t get done…
I move the block.

No guilt. No shame.

Just movement.

That one shift alone removes so much pressure.

The Secret Most People Miss: Everything Takes Longer Than You Think

If you don’t plan margin, your schedule will constantly feel like it’s failing.

Because it is… based on unrealistic expectations.

So I intentionally:

  πŸ’– Leave space between blocks
πŸ’– Avoid stacking too many “heavy” tasks in one day
  πŸ’– Assume interruptions will happen

Because they will.

And when you plan for that…

You stop thinking:
“This day is ruined.”

And start thinking:
“This is real life.”

Interruptions Are Not the Problem

This is where guarding your thoughts matters so much.

Because interruptions will come.

  🏠 A phone call
🏠 A need in your home
🏠 A moment with someone you love

And here’s the truth most productivity advice won’t tell you:

Some of the most important things you’ll do today won’t look “productive.”

People are eternal.

Tasks are not.

So instead of thinking:
“This is messing up my schedule…”

You can choose to think:
“This might be exactly what mattered today.”

That shift alone brings so much peace.

Flexibility Is Not Failure… It’s Leadership

One of the biggest breakthroughs for me was realizing this:

Moving things around isn’t a sign I’m doing it wrong.

It may be a sign I’m paying attention to the Holy Spirit.

I will often move a 2-hour block from one day to another…

Because:
  πŸ’– Someone needs me
πŸ’– Something took longer than expected
πŸ’– I sense I need to rest
πŸ’– Or I feel led to focus somewhere else

And almost every time…

That adjustment leads to better clarity and better results.

That’s not lack of discipline.

That’s Spirit-led leadership.

When you don't hear God's direction clearly, remember that God uniquely created you for His purpose, not someone else’s, and wants you to find it.

You can read more about that here: Uniquely Created by God for a Purpose

What This Has to Do With Guarding Your Thoughts

If your thoughts say:
“I have to get everything on my list done today…”

You will feel anxious.

If your thoughts say:
“I’m behind…”

You will rush.

If your thoughts say:
“I failed because I didn’t stick to the plan…”

You will feel defeated.

But if your thoughts are anchored in truth:

πŸ’– God gave me enough time today for what He wants me to do

πŸ’– I can adjust my schedule without feeling guilty

πŸ’– God is in control of my time and has allowed this interruption

πŸ’– I can listen to the Holy Spirit's promptings and respond, not just push and perform

Everything changes.

Your schedule becomes a tool… not a taskmaster.

A Simple Way to Start (Without Overcomplicating It)

If you want to try this, start here:

πŸ’– Choose 2–3 priority blocks per day
πŸ’– Make them 1–2 hours each
  πŸ’– Leave space between them
πŸ’– Decide ahead of time what each block is for
πŸ’– Give yourself permission to move them around in your day and week

And most importantly…

πŸ’– Pray over your week before you plan it

Not as a formality…

But as leadership.

Psalm 31:15 declares:

“My times are in thy hand…”

The Peace You’re Looking For Isn’t in a Perfect Plan

It’s in knowing God is in control of your time and loves you.

That means:
πŸ’– Your time is not random
πŸ’– Your days are not out of control
  πŸ’– You are not late

God is not asking you to manage time perfectly.

He’s inviting you to walk with Him through it.

This Week, Try This

πŸ’– Move one block without guilt
πŸ’– Leave margin around time blocks on purpose
πŸ’– Pause when something unexpected comes up
πŸ’– Notice what your thoughts are saying about your time

And commit your thoughts to God and gently bring those thoughts back to truth.

Because when your thoughts are at peace…

Your schedule will follow.
