When God Doesn’t Move as Fast as You Want Him To
Have you ever been sure you knew exactly what needed to happen?
The next step was obvious.
You just needed to make a decision and move forward.

Timestamp: 1:35 Marriage Between Opposites
After almost five decades of marriage, one of the greatest lessons God has taught me is this:
God is perfectly capable of preparing my husband so that when it’s time to make a decision, he’s ready.
People’s decision-making speeds are different.
That doesn’t worry God at all.
My husband and I are different.
When I see a decision to be made, I think out loud and process through talking.
I plan, research, and once I’ve made a decision, I think I’m ready to go.
My husband is different. And that’s ok!
He thinks quietly. He weighs things carefully. He takes his time.

For years, I thought that was a problem.
I was convinced we were missing incredible opportunities and God’s best.
If he were just more like me, everything would be so much better!
Now I smile when I think about that.
Because what I saw as a “missed opportunity” was often God’s protection.
What I felt was a wrong decision was often wisdom.
And what I thought needed to happen right away, I now see I wasn’t ready for.

Let me share a story.
Years ago, when we were looking for a home, we made offers on several houses.
Immediately, I would plan how to lay out the rooms, where the furniture would go, and organize the kitchen in my head.
I knew which grocery store I’d shop at and where our children might play.
In my mind, I could picture us living there.
And then…
The offer would be refused.
At the time, it felt like a No to my prayers, and I was very disappointed.

Later, I thanked God for closing each of those doors.
God had something so much better in store for us.
When I saw a move… God saw a life change.
I saw friendships. He saw mentorship and spiritual growth.
I saw finding a church right away that was a perfect fit.
God saw building my trust and submission to my husband…
and restoring His design for our home in a way I didn’t understand at the time.

If you've gotten caught up in comparison, feeling "less than," remember that God uniquely created you for His purpose, not anyone else’s, and He wants you to find it.
You can read more about that here: Uniquely Created by God for a Purpose
While I was waiting for the answer…
God wasn’t just preparing the outcome.
He was preparing me.
Seasons where nothing seems to be happening.
And then suddenly… everything shifts.
Because God said, “It’s time.”
Are you in a season like that right now?
Waiting.
Praying.
Wondering why nothing seems to be happening.
It can feel like the door is completely closed.
Like nothing has shifted at all.
And it’s easy to start thinking that God isn’t doing anything.
Hebrews 11:1 says:
"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."
But just because you can’t see it, doesn’t mean nothing is happening.
Some of the most important work God does happens when you can’t see it.
He’s preparing more than you realize.
So if you’re waiting today, don’t think that God has forgotten you.
It doesn’t mean nothing is happening.
Know that there is more going on than you can see.
And trust.
Later, you may look back and realize that this season you wanted to rush through…
was when God was preparing something far greater than you imagined.
