You’re Carrying Too Much… And You Know It
You’re Carrying Too Much… And You Know It
You already know.
It’s too much.
Not all at once.
It didn’t happen in a moment.
It happened one decision at a time.
You said yes…
because you care.
because you’re responsible.
because you knew how to make it work.
🎥 Why You Feel Responsible for Everything (And What God Is Actually Asking)
And, you might like this part especially:
Timestamp: 00:35 You already know it’s too much
I’ve done the same.
Have you ever looked at everything on your plate…
and wondered how it all got there?
Not dramatically.
Just quietly.
Over time.
You became the one people rely on.
The one who follows through.
The one who makes sure things don’t fall apart.
And somewhere along the way…
that became your normal.
I remember when I started to notice something shifting.
I was doing what needed to be done.
I was making sure things were handled.
I was staying on top of everything.
But underneath that…
there was pressure.
A constant awareness.
A sense that I couldn’t step away.
Even when I stopped…
my mind didn’t.

Have you ever felt that?
Like even when you sit down…
you’re still carrying everything in your thoughts?
That’s where I began to see something I hadn’t seen before.
There is a difference…
between being responsible…
and taking responsibility for things that belong to God.
That realization didn’t come all at once.
But when it did…
it changed everything.
Because I began to recognize…
I wasn’t just helping.
I was carrying.
I was stepping into places that were never mine.
And that’s where the weight was coming from.
Not from doing what God had asked.
But from doing what He hadn’t.
I remember one moment so clearly.
I was standing in my bedroom…
and I felt the presence of Someone in the room with me... and I knew it was the Holy Spirit.

If you've gotten caught up comparing your life, your list, or your results to someone else…
remember this:
God created you uniquely for His purpose.
And I heard the Holy Spirit say to me:
“Just let Me know when you’re done.”
That shook me.
I knew exactly what He meant.
I had been trying to carry everything and, frankly,
I had been trying to be my husband's Holy Spirit.
Trying to fix things.
Trying to control outcomes.
Have you ever done that?
Thought,
“If I don’t do it… nobody will”?
Sometimes that feels true.
But even when something needs to be done…
that doesn’t mean it’s yours.
That’s the part that’s hard.
Because it requires something different.
Not more effort.
Not more discipline.
But surrender.
And surrender doesn’t always feel easy.
Because letting go can feel like something is at risk.

What if it doesn’t get done?
What if it falls apart?
What if someone is disappointed?
I’ve asked those same questions.
But here’s what I began to see…
When I stepped back…
God didn’t step back.
When I released something that wasn’t mine…
He was still fully present.
Still working.
Still leading.
And I began to experience something I hadn’t felt in a long time.
Peace.
Everything didn't suddenly disappear.
But I was only carrying what was mine.
And leaving the rest with Him.
I’ve been thinking about another side of this lately.
What if releasing what isn’t yours isn’t only about having less to carry?
What if it’s also about finally making room for what is yours?
Is there something God has put on your heart that you keep saying you don’t have time for?
That book you’ve wanted to write
Beginning a ministry
A business idea you keep putting aside
Important Projects you know you should finish
Your dream trip that has stayed a dream
Learning something new
Serving...
A dream you used to think about often, but somewhere along the way, you became so busy carrying everything else that you buried it.
What is the big dream God has put on your heart that you still haven’t done?
I want you to sit with that question.
Not every dream or desire is necessarily something God is asking you to pursue.
We must take our dreams to Him.
Seek His face.
Listen for His voice.
Hear Him saying yes, wait, or no.
But what if there is something He has given you to do, and you never seem to reach it because your time, energy, and attention are consumed by things He never asked you to carry?
That changes the reason for letting go.
It isn't that you are trying to create an easier life for yourself...
God has given you something to do, and you’re making room to faithfully do it.
That changes your decisions...
how you lead...
and how you live.
Because now the question becomes:
“Is this mine?”
Not:
“Does this need to be done?”
But:
“Is this what God is asking of me?”
And then perhaps one more question:
“Lord, what have You given me to do that I keep putting off because I’m carrying everything else?”
If you’re starting to see how much you’ve been carrying, maybe it’s time to begin discerning not only what God is asking you to release, but what He’s asking you to make room for.
This is where to begin:
This is where you begin to discern clearly…
what is yours to carry…
what you can finally release…
and begin making room for what God has actually given you to do.
Because releasing what isn’t yours isn’t the end.
It makes room for what is.
