Consistency, Prioritizing, and How to Stop Struggling and Succeed

May 15, 2025
Youโ€™ve realized that inconsistency often comes from trying to live up to expectations that were never yours to carry and God did not create you to copy someone elseโ€™s life. He created you with unique priorities, rhythms, and responsibilities.

Why Christian Women Struggle with Them and How to Stop Without Hustle

If consistency feels hard for you, you’re not broken.

If prioritizing feels overwhelming, you’re not failing.

And if systems seem to work for everyone else but fall apart in your life, there is nothing wrong with you.

Many Christian women assume their struggle with consistency means they lack discipline, motivation, or follow-through. But over the years, I’ve learned that the problem usually isn’t effort.

It’s alignment.

I explain this more fully in this video teaching…

When “Trying Harder” Isn’t the Answer

I used to believe that if I could just find the right routine, the right planner, or the right system, everything would finally fall into place.

So I tried harder.

I gathered tools.
I made plans.
I started strong.

And then… life happened.

Family needs.
Unexpected responsibilities.
Fatigue.
Discouragement.

And once again, consistency slipped through my fingers.

What I didn’t understand then is that consistency cannot be sustained by pressure. It must be supported by purpose.

Why Consistency Feels So Hard

Here’s what I now know to be true:

Consistency breaks down when we try to live disconnected from who God created us to be.

When identity is unclear:

  • Priorities feel heavy

  • Decisions feel exhausting

  • Systems feel restrictive instead of supportive

Without a clear sense of calling and stewardship, routines become rules, and planning feels like performance.

That’s why consistency so often collapses under the weight of good intentions.

Prioritizing Is a Spiritual Discipline

Prioritizing is not about doing more.

It’s about deciding what matters most before the day begins.

Christian women often struggle with prioritizing because we:

  • Feel responsible for everything

  • Say yes out of guilt

  • Confuse faithfulness with availability

But God never asked us to carry everything.

He asked us to steward what He entrusted to us.

When priorities are prayerfully chosen, they bring peace instead of pressure.

Systems Are Meant to Serve You, Not Control You

A system is simply a way of supporting what matters.

It is not a measure of your worth.
It is not proof of your spirituality.
It is not a test you pass or fail.

Healthy systems:

  • Reduce decision fatigue

  • Protect your energy

  • Create margin for rest

  • Support obedience, not hustle

When systems are built around your God-given identity, they feel freeing instead of confining.

Why Hustle Never Produces Lasting Consistency

Hustle relies on adrenaline.

It pushes through exhaustion.
It ignores limits.
It demands more without asking why.

But hustle always costs more than it gives.

God does not call us to hustle.
He calls us to trust.

Consistency that lasts is rooted in rest, not inactivity, but deep confidence that God is at work even when we are not pushing.

Learning to Lead Yourself First

At some point, I realized that before I could lead my family, my work, or anyone else, I had to learn how to lead myself.

That meant:

  • Making decisions prayerfully, not reactively

  • Creating rhythms instead of rigid schedules

  • Choosing obedience over urgency

This shift changed everything.

When you lead yourself first, consistency stops feeling like a battle and starts becoming a natural response to clarity.

A Gentler Way Forward

If you’ve been stuck in cycles of starting and stopping, here’s a gentle truth:

You don’t need more willpower.
You need alignment.

You don’t need another system to manage your life.
You need clarity about what God is asking you to steward in this season.

And you don’t need to hustle to prove your faithfulness.
You can lead from rest.

This is exactly the kind of work we do inside Lead Well, where Christian women learn to align their identity, priorities, and daily decisions with God’s design for their lives.

Final Encouragement

Consistency grows best in grace-filled soil.

When you stop striving and start stewarding, you’ll find that prioritizing becomes clearer, systems become simpler, and obedience becomes lighter.

You are not behind.

You are being shaped.

And God is faithful to guide every step when you invite Him into how you live, plan, and lead.
